Eric Prydz (b. July 19, 1976) is a famous Swedish record producer and professional DJ mostly famous for his hit single released in 2004 called “Call on Me”. He also released his first album Opus and later won the Electronic Music Award for DJ of the Year in 2017.
Eric Prydz, originally known as Eric Sheridan Prydz, is a talented DJ and producer from Sweden. Throughout his career, he has released a variety of singles and EPs under different project names, showcasing his versatility and creativity. Some of these project names include Pryda, Cirez D, Sheridan, Dirty Funker, Moo, A and P Project, Axer, Hardform, Dukes of Sluca, and Groove System. He takes pride in releasing his music through his own labels, such as Mouseville, Pryda, and Pryda Friends.
When producing music under his own name, Prydz tends to lean towards straightforward, club-oriented house music. He has also gained recognition for his remakes of popular pop songs from the 1980s. One of his notable releases in this style was the 2004 hit “Call on Me,” which became a sensation in Europe.
The song cleverly sampled Steve Winwood’s “Valerie,” and its success led it to reach the top of the singles charts in both England and Germany. The accompanying music video, featuring an energetic aerobic routine, sparked some controversy and even caught the attention of U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair.
In 2005, Prydz released “Woz Not Woz,” an instrumental remix of the 1980 Was single “Wheel Me Out.” While it may not have achieved the same level of commercial success as “Call on Me,” it showcased Prydz’s musical inventiveness and unique approach.
Another notable release came in 2006 with “Proper Education,” a funky reinterpretation of Pink Floyd’s iconic “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2.” This remix featured David Gilmour and a chorus of schoolchildren, injecting a fresh groove into the timeless classic.

Prydz continued to produce and release singles on his label Pryda over the next few years. In 2012, he presented a triple-disc compilation titled “Eric Prydz Presents Pryda,” showcasing new material on the first disc and a carefully curated selection of his previous work on the remaining discs.
In 2015, he captivated listeners with “Opus,” a captivating and atmospheric nine-minute track that garnered significant acclaim. The song became a hit, and when acclaimed producer Four Tet expressed interest in remixing it, Prydz gladly accepted. This collaboration generated further buzz and attention.
In 2016, Prydz released his debut studio album titled “Opus,” with the eponymous track serving as the album’s centerpiece. The album showcased his artistic vision and cemented his position as a respected artist in the electronic music scene.
