Jonathan Cain (b. Feb 26, 1950)  is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the keyboardist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band ”Journey”. Additionally, he pursues a solo career as a modern Christian artist. He has also collaborated with Bad English and The Babys.

He joined the Babys in 1979, and he made appearances on the albums Union Jacks and On the Edge. Cain replaced Gregg Rolie on the keyboards in the rock band Journey in 1980 after leaving The Babys. With his first musical collaborations on the album Escape, Cain helped lead Journey’s rise to the top of the charts by writing and playing the piano on songs like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which AllMusic dubbed “one of the best opening keyboard riffs in rock.”

As the lone writer of the Journey ballad “Faithfully,” a song about life on the road with a band, he may have made his most significant contribution. At least 13 further Journey albums and collections would feature Cain.

In order to start the band Bad English, Cain reconnected with his former Babys colleagues John Waite and Ricky Phillips, as well as Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo, who would later join Journey. The group split up in the early 1990s after releasing two albums.

The Journey group from the album Escape came back together in 1996. They got back together and made the album Trial by Fire. After needing surgery for a hip ailment he sustained while climbing in Hawaii in 1998, Steve Perry once more quit the band. Following Steve Augeri from 1998 to 2006, Jeff Scott Soto from 2006 to 2007, and Arnel Pineda from 2007 to the present, Journey has had three additional lead singers.
