Rafy entered the political arena on October 2, 2021, when he filed his certificate of candidacy as an independent candidate for the 2022 senatorial election. Later, on February 8, 2022, he aligned himself with presidential candidate Manny Pacquiao’s senatorial slate.
In the election, Tulfo secured a significant third-place finish, amassing 23,396,954 votes, and was officially proclaimed as a Senator on May 18, 2022. His role in the Senate was further underscored as he assumed the position of Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy.
Upon the commencement of the 19th Congress in July 2022, Tulfo wasted no time in filing priority bills. These bills encompassed measures to protect Filipino workers from abusive employers and offer discounts for financially disadvantaged job applicants.
Additionally, he introduced a bill aimed at amending the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act to extend protection to all family members from violence.
